Barbados offers the best deep sea fishing to avid fishermen. The best time to fish in the Barbados waters is from December to April. This is also the best time for exquisite weather to enjoy the best climate for all water sports and to enjoy the beaches. Among all these activities, fishing is world renowned. There are different types of fish to be caught in the deep Barbados waters. Four examples are:

  1. Barracuda – This fish is known for its large size and fearsome appearance. Some species can reach up to 7 feet long.
  2. Marlin – This fish has a spear-like snout and a long. Dorsal fin which flairs out along its back. They are extremely fast swimmers with speeds recorded of 50 miles per hour. They can reach 16 feet in length and weight up to 1800 pounds.
  3. Tuna – The size can vary from 1.5 feet and 4 lbs. to l5 feet and 1500 lbs. It is said that the blue fin tuna can live up to 50 years.
  4. Wahoo – This fish looks somewhat like a tuna with a blue-green colored back and silver sides. It has a very short snout and a huge set of teeth. The dorsal fin continues the length of the body.

There are many fishing charter companies to choose from. They offer different packages and, of course, different prices. You can choose a four-hour morning, afternoon or evening excursion, or an all-day trip. You can join a group on board a large boat or hire a private charter, which is a bit more expensive. All the charter boats have all the equipment necessary and provide guides who will give you assistance and/or lessons.
