Fishing Tips for First Timers

Want a day off from all the hustle bustle of life? If you want to get away from the noise of the city, you’re right to try your hand at fishing. But it’s not such an easy task as it seems, here are a few pointers that would help:-

1) You should be well acquainted with the terminology

You should know what the terms bait, fishing rod, rod action, fishing line and rod power mean.

2) Get the proper gear

You should have a proper fishing rod, hook, bait and a bucket to keep fish in. Most states ask for a fishing license, so do some online research and find out how much it would cost you.

3) Choose the place

Choose an appropriate place where you would go fishing. Learn about the commonly found fish in that particular area. Find a place where deep water meets shallow water.

4) Learn to tie your hook on the line

Learn simple clinch knots for tying the hook to your fishing line. Then, choose the appropriate bait for the type of fish that you want to trap.

5) Cast your line

Learn how to cast your line properly. Cast it just like you throw a stone across water, then bring it smoothly to point in the direction that you want and release the line when you’re satisfied.

6) Wait

Sit silently until you feel a tug at the end of the line. When the rod starts jerking, pull your fish out and use a net to catch it.
